If the 2036 Olympics were held in any major city of my choice, where would that be? I would be interested to see them in Jakarta, Indonesia. For this project, I develop branding for the future Olympics to create a logo, color palette, typography, pictograms, and signage. My ideas come from the history and traditions of Jakarta to represent their city. My goal is to welcome all visitors not only to the Olympics but Jakarta’s style of living as well.
Jakarta is home to the Betawi culture where they hold festivals and performances as celebrations. Large puppets are a big trait to these festivals, which are called "Ondel-Ondel’s". They have a vibrant appearance with tall feathers that spread across their heads. The Monas Tower in Jakarta is another historical factor within their city. With these tributes, it helps me to begin designing.
